Rates
Lancaster Energy (LCE) electric generation rates are very affordable and detailed on the Rates page of this website. Any changes to rates will be adopted at duly noticed public meetings of the Lancaster City Council.
Southern California Edison (SCE) charges Lancaster customers a Power Charge Indifference Adjustment (PCIA) and franchise fees. In addition, SCE charges fees for delivering power to your home or business and for providing various customer services. Please contact SCE for more information about these charges.
Billing
Each month, LCE customers receive a single monthly bill from SCE, just as they would under SCE service. This bill includes all recent electric charges, including LCE’s power generation charges. SCE will continue to charge you for the services they provide. For your convenience, SCE forwards the power generation portion of the bill due to LCE when you pay your monthly bill. You’ll receive just one bill and need to make a single payment each month.
Enrollment
Lancaster Energy is the default electric power provider within the City of Lancaster. When you begin a new electric service account in the City of Lancaster or transfer an existing account outside of Lancaster to a new address in Lancaster, you will be automatically enrolled in Lancaster’s Clear Choice program. You may choose to enroll in Lancaster’s Smart Choice service, which guarantees 100% clean, renewable energy service at very competitive prices.
Opt-out
You have the right to opt out of LCE without penalty at any time. If you opt out, you will still be charged for all electricity you used before the transfer of electric service. If you decide to opt back in to SCE after the 60-day opt out period, SCE will charge a one-time account processing fee. By opting out, you will also be subject to SCE’s then current rates, terms and conditions of service. For details on SCE’s rate, terms and conditions, please visit sce.com. Accounts will be transferred on the day the electric meter is read and cannot be transferred during the middle of a billing cycle. In order for your request to be processed on your next meter read date, your request must be received at least 5 business days prior to the date on which the meter is read. To opt out, please call LCE or visit LancasterChoiceEnergy.com. Have your electric bill handy so that we can process the request.
Failure to pay
Lancaster Energy may transfer your account to SCE upon 14 calendar days’ written notice if you fail to pay any portion of the Lancaster charges on your bill. If your service is transferred, you may be subject to additional requirements by SCE.
